HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
The idea behind Scott Whitney's ChristmAcoustic CD was pretty modest, really.

Around early November 2000, as any an avid acoustic jazz guitarist might do, Scott thought it would be nice to record a Christmas CD that he could give to a few friends and clients as a personalized Christmas gift. Kind of a, "Thanks for being my friend/client, here's a little something I whipped up for y'all!" type thing.

"Okay," he thought, "a groovy Christmas CD sounds like a good idea. Now, it's November 8th and I need to get this baby recorded, mastered, and printed before Thanksgiving. DOH!!"

Seemed easy enough. . .

Recorded at Scott's Pseudo Studios from November 9th - 20th, 2000, Scott's ChristmAcoustic CD was completed on the 21st of November and subsequently previewed in, of all places, Effingham, Illinois (where COLD is a four-letter word) on November 22, 2000.

Upon completing its Illinois debut, Scott's goal for ChristmAcoustic was to give out about 30 copies during the Christmas gift-giving season. However, as luck would have it, by January 1st, 2001, close to six hundred (600) units were shipped.

THE WORD OF THE DAY: MOMENTUM
Along with sending the CD's to friends, family, and clients, Scott told a few other groups about his humble little Christmas CD.

That's all it took.

Lead by the good people of VROC (the Vulcan Rider's and Owners Club), lots-o-folks decided to pick up the nine-song ChristmAcoustic CD. Not only did they pick up copies for themselves, but a BUNCH of folks bought copies as gifts for others [editor's note-- We think this is a very good idea].

With orders coming from as close as across the street to as far away as New Zealand, we received orders for just under six hundred CDs in just over 30 days!

[Interesting tidbit: 2000's largest single order breakdown: 1/3 as personal gifts, 1/3 as client gifts, 1/3 as party favors.]

Many folks took advantage of our customization offer (then known as our Signature Series CDs), where we customized the CD to include a holiday greeting from the giver. This was a big hit.

During December 2000 (a December that had Scott, his now-wife Melissa, and his two kids Heather and Savannah, burning, labeling, and shipping CDs all day and night), we received orders from moms and dads, real estate agents, marketing consultants, sales reps, company presidents & vice presidents, DJs, musicians, authors, and folks just like you! [grin] For so many, it was a perfect, affordable holiday gift!

HMM. . .THERE MAY BE SOMETHING TO THIS!
Reflecting upon 2000, the response was amazing. So much so that Scott decided to dedicate more time to the ChristmAcoustic CD efforts.

For 2001, he began by creating a dedicated website to the ChristmAcoustic CDs; the first www.ChristmAcoustic.com. Then, he went about getting the word out. Having a strong background in sales and marketing, Scott was able to increase the sales of the ChristmAcoustic CD from 600ish in 2000 to over five thousand, three hundred (5,300) in 2001. A wide variety of folks snapped up the CD, many of which were very generous with their comments. We also saw companies like Compaq, Novell, VistaCare Hospice, Re/Max, and SallieMae use the ChristmAcoustic CD as a personalized gift for their clients.

IN THE YEAR, 2002, 2002. . .
Along with the nice comments Scott received about the CD, the most often-asked question was, "When are you going to record a second CD?"

As a follow-up to the initial ChristmAcoustic CD (and to answer the previous question), Scott recorded ChristmAcoustic II in February 2002. And, along with recording the second CD, both CDs got a BRAND NEW LOOK!

With that brand new look came a brand new website. And with a brand new website came more exposure to the ChristmAcoustic series. As a matter of fact, Amazon.com, the most popular website in the world, carries the ChristmAcoustic and ChristmAcoustic II CD series.
